Request for a copy of your prescription
You would have been given a spectacle prescription on the day of your examination. If required, a copy of your presciption is available for a fee of £7.
Thinking of having spectacles made elsewhere?
We believe it is in your best interest to obtain examination and dispensing from the same establishment…….
thus if you intend to continue to purchase spectacles elsewhere we reluctantly recommend you also obtain your eye examination elsewhere. You will always be welcome to return when you wish to obtain your complete eye care with us. Our Practice devotes considerable time into providing the best care and investment in the very latest optometric equipment and unfortunately cannot afford to keep patients who are dispensed spectacles elsewhere.
Patient request for Pupillary Distance (PD) measurement
The PD is one of several facial measurements that are taken as part of the dispensing process. It is not part of the prescription. (1) Practices are not required to specify the pupillary distance (PD) as part of the spectacle prescription. This measurement is considered to be part of the dispensing process. Patients can be charged for providing this service. (2)
Your eye examination will determine the prescription you need to see clearly and comfortably but will not include the measurements needed to make sure your glasses fit correctly. This is because there are several measurements that are needed, of which your pupillary distance (PD) is just one. It is the responsibility of the supplier of spectacles to make dispensing measurements and we are thus unable to provide you with your PD if you are considering obtaining spectacles elsewhere. Please contact us if you have any queries.
Vouchers
NHS Spectacle Vouchers: We are pleased to issue and accept NHS Vouchers towards spectacles for those eligible. We always aim to provide the best quality spectacles and so are unable to provide complete spectacles to the value of NHS Vouchers. An excellent selection of spectacles is available from £35 for those using voucher contribution. Click here for information regarding NHS Voucher eligibility.
EyeCare Vouchers: We are sorry that we are not able to accept most forms of Eyecare vouchers (provided by some employers) towards your eye examination or spectacles. This is because the voucher is worth around £20 and we are not able to devote enough time for this level of remuneration. Their rules do not allow for the patient to pay the difference for a comprehensive examination including OCT & OPTOS scans.
